Sea fishing on Senja
With the possibility of both fishing in fjords or the open sea, Camp Steinfjord offers a wide range of choices to decide on. You fish where you feel most comfortable. Do you like being surrounded by mountains, do you appreciate the open sea, do you prefer to fish at 10 m or 2500 m depth? <br> Perhaps you prefer to choose fishing water by name of place? Skreigrunnsdypet, Kveitesølia or Malangsdypet, you choose. Whatever you decide on, you are guaranteed to come home with memories to last a lifetime.
Freshwater fishing
Senja is an extremely species-rich place, the fishing for salmon, sea trout, sea char, trout and char can compete with the absolute best in the world. With the proximity to the various fishing waters and the amount of fish they hold, we dare say that the place is unique. Every year, quantities of salmon, sea-migrating char are landed in both rivers and lakes.
Lakes on the mountain
Senja is packed with lots of beautifully situated mountain lakes. All have either trout, char or both species in them. In addition, there are also waters that hold extremely large fish. In the mountain lakes that are not connected to the sea, you are allowed to fish all year round. Everyone who loves fishing should at some point in their life try mountain lake fishing on Senja.
Lakes in the river system
On Senja there are several lakes which are connected in a system of rivers. An experience you won’t forget! In season, you can have absolutely fantastic fishing for sea trout, salmon and sea-migrating char in these waters. The lakes are best fished from a boat, which Camp Steinfjord obviously offers. Largest sea trout from here in 2024 was caught on a fly and weighed 8 kg.
The river
Senja offers many different rivers, but we mostly fish in Laukhelle. It stretches across the entire island and has many lakes connected to it. We believe that Laukhelle is probably one of Northern Norway’s most beautiful rivers. In addition, it offers unusually good fishing for salmon and sea trout when the water conditions are good. Each year, quantities of sea trout over 6 kg and salmon over 10 kg are taken.
Noble fish in the sea
Senja doesn’t just offer fantastic angling in lakes and rivers. Even the sea holds a lot of precious fish. Sea trout, sea-migrating char and humpback salmon are among the more common species. A perfect complement for those who want to combine noble fishing with traditional fishing for, for example, cod and halibut.

Our accommodations can offer you a comfortable stay where you wake up refreshed and ready for a day of fishing or exploring all that Senja has to offer.
With a total of 48 beds, we can offer space for both small parties and larger business groups. Our accommodation options are divided into seven 4-bed rooms, three apartments with 4 beds and the independent Villa with 8 beds.
Eat
The restaurant
In our restaurant by the sea there are 65 seats with an outstanding view of the Steinfjord. During high season, the restaurant is open to the public seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Our chefs use fresh and locally produced ingredients and our menu changes regularly. What better way to end a successful day of fishing than with a good dinner with a good drink in the company of friends?
Our boats
Alumarine 760 BF is suitable for up to six fishermen. Equipped with hardtop and 200 HP Suzuki. Double screens in the form of two Garmin Echomap 92sv and Garmin VHF 2151 with AIS.
The boats of the brand Kvaernö 615 are equipped with 115 hp engines from Mercury of the model Seapro. All boats have sonar of the brand Lawrance Elite ti2 7 with chart plotter. There is also a VHF radio for each boat. </p>
<p>Kvaernö 615 is an excellent boat in aluminum with a proper hull well adapted to the environment and with its size offers plenty of space for four fishing people. If you are an extra person, there is absolutely no problem. In these boats you always feel safe regardless of the weather. It is also the boat that is included in the package tour.
Alumarine 830 CAB, our flagship, not for hire. This boat has everything you could need. Only works as a rescue and guide boat. Cab with diesel heater and 250 HP Suzuki. One Garmin Echomap 92sv and one Garmin Echomap 12sv. Garmin VHF 2151 with AIS. The boat also has a Garmin Force Kraken 90 inch trolling motor and a LiveScope plus system.

In our very well-equipped shop, you can find everything from bait locks, line, knives, pliers, darts and jigs in all sizes and a lot of other equipment. Everything thoroughly tested in our waters. Here you will find everything you could possibly need for the perfect stay.
New collaboration
Camp Steinfjord x Garmin - Leading technology for sea fishing
Since July 1, 2024, we at Camp Steinfjord have entered into a close collaboration with Garmin. The idea of the collaboration is that together we will be helped to develop and test Garmin’s latest technology aimed at sea fishing.
Among other things, we have been given the honor and the opportunity to use the new Force Kraken. Force Kraken is Garmin’s absolute largest and most powerful electric motor. The motor is fantastic and has really changed our fishing for the better both for us and our guests.
Our close collaboration means that Camp Steinfjord always has access to the latest and best technology on the market. This also means that Garmin in turn gets an ambassador who tests the products in the right type of environment and purpose. In addition, our guests get a completely new experience regarding technology and fishing. Our guide boat is equipped with Garmin through and through and will be continuously updated during the seasons as news is presented.
